Of all the elements of design, there is nothing like colour to set the mood in any room. And relative to the cost of other finishes and furnishings, paint colour is an economical way to make a big impact. Here are 3 ways to use paint to transform your space:

Upcycle furniture: Before you bring an old piece of furniture to the curb, consider repainting it. From small items like chairs or benches to headboards and hutches, paint can easily update furniture with a fresh new look and a pop of colour. Be sure to use Benjamin Moore ADVANCE® Paint that was formulated specifically for furniture and cabinetry – it is available in any colour, so the choice is yours!

Colour block: Add some fun by painting an accent colour in an unexpected place like a ceiling, stair riser, or the back of a cabinet. If you are unsure but eager to try out a more daring colour, start small and simply paint a colour block in place of a bedroom headboard.

And finally…..Jump right into a mood changing hue! : Colour can help to energize, relax, inspire and more. Changing your wall colour from warm to cool, or pale to bold instantly shifts the mood. In general, cooler colours feel fresh while warmer colours are cozy. For full impact, try colour drenching and use the same colour on walls, ceilings and trim. Even small pops of vibrant colour can enliven both your spirits and your spaces.

Whether your paint project is big or small the best way to avoid a costly mistake is to purchase a Benjamin Moore colour sample first and try it on for size.

Happy Painting!
