Fresh, Hearty and Flavourful Salade Niçoise
Pair this meal with wine and cheese for the perfect picnic.
The spontaneous nature of a picnic calls for foods that are easy to prepare and serve. If you create one substantial main dish accompanied by cheese, bread and wine, you’ll succeed in making a great meal with little effort. We suggest Salade Niçoise, a flavourful salad full of colour with plentiful variations. Try pairing it with a camembert or aged farmhouse cheddar and a fresh, crisp white or light red wine.
Ingredients
Boiled new potatoes, halved
Cooked green beans
1 or 2 cans of tuna in oil
Black olives (not the tinned ones)
1 big handful of halved grape tomatoes
Finely diced red onion
Some chopped basil
Directions
Toss ingredients together in a large bowl and season generously with salt and dress liberally with olive oil and white wine vinegar. Add to your menu a baguette, ciabatta roll or an olive-studded artisanal fougasse bread and your picnic is ready. All you need is a blanket.
